Newsletter June/July, 2008.

Hi to you all.  The season has passed its half way point, some teams have been regraded and starting all over again, some grades have been split and some are just waiting to meet up with that team who beat them in the first round and dented more than their pride. Feel free to go to the website and update yourselves with what has been happening in the club and also how about putting a team report on the website so that we can all share in your better moments.

RAFFLE
By the time you get this newsletter, the club raffle will have been drawn and the winners notified, and if you check the website you will be able to see who the lucky winners were.  To those of you who did your bit for the club, I take this opportunity of Thanking You for your effort. It was a good return but could have been better, if those teams & there was four of them, who did not issue their tickets but simply returned them unsold.  We as a club, and might I take this opportunity of saying one of the best if not the best in Canterbury – facility wise and number wise – struggle to meet our expenditure, and we try not to burden our members, so to this end only put out one Fundraiser a Year and we feel that it is a fair and reasonable one.  However, I do understand that some do not partake for Belief reasons, and there are some who simply cannot afford it, but a little effort, $2.00 here and $2.00 there, as they are easy to sell, would produce that bit on the top which is the profit.  The alternative to this is increasing the subscriptions, & this we simply do not want to do.  We try as a committee to cut as much off our expenditure as possible, by having the phone disconnected for 6 months of the year, relying on those present to use cell phones, we unplug water heaters, we do a lot of the works around the club ourselves rather than getting people into do it, and all in all squirrel around trying to absorb our costs.

TROPHIES
Time to polish those trophies and return them to the club.  This is a task which at the end of the season is very time consuming and if we could have them in early, without having to chase them up – things would be much easier for those who bring it all together at the end of the season.
Two options for returning – give them to your coach, who I am sure will make sure they get back to the right place, or
                                           - give them to Ron in the Shop of a Saturday morning, when getting your fix of coffee.

PHOTOS:
This I believe went off well, with all the Junior teams getting their annual memorabilia photos taken.  The Seniors will be taken later in the Season, as they tend to like to wait to see if they can win some trophies & share the moment with trophy in hand.  Our Photographer will be out there on a Saturday taking snapshots to accompany the photos, so put your best foot forward, if you see him lurking.
GROUNDS:
Please make an effort to clear the sidelines after your games on a Saturday, in particular, fruit skins, tape, bottles and general rubbish, because at the end of the day “someone is picking it up” !!!.  This applies to home games and away, and for those who use changing facilities, please ensure that it is tidier when you leave, than you found it.

BALL BOYS/GIRLS.
One of the criteria for our Premier League Teams, is that we must supply Ball Boys/Girls when we are playing at home and so far this season some of the older Junior Teams have filled this roll and for this we Thank You.  However we still have a number of weeks of Home Games, which are usually fortnightly, and this roll must be filled.  If you would like to make a day of  it, and perhaps come and support the Premier Team, do the duty of Ball Boys/Girls and have your Player of the Day Presentation at the Aftermatch Function, please contact your convenor, or the Secretary or Alan Batty and your team would be most welcomed. Details for Club Personnel at the end of this newsletter.

MINI   LEAGUE.
Mini League, for those who used to attend and think they may have disappeared, they are now doing their thing at  Nunweek   Park  on  Harewood Road .  They started the season at  Bishopdale   Park , but the fair in the holidays dug up the ground and thus the Mini’s had to shift.  Numbers have increased, they now have 14 teams of 10 and all is flowing along nicely.  The Back Pack Coffee Man and the Sausage Sizzle, are on site on a Saturday Morning, 9.30 – 10.30 so if you are heading out and can leave early and want to take a peek, do so, they are really cute to watch.

TRAINING:
Please use common sense when it comes to training.  The RED FLAG on the end of the balcony means no training on the grounds. (We do apologies for the week after the snow – it was miscommunication – that caused the flag to remain longer than it should have.) Goal Mouths are out of bounds for training, - if necessary use the reverse side of the goal mouth. The League Pitch – that is the one directly outside the club rooms is a no go area.

SHOP
The shop at  Tulett   Park  is open on a Saturday Morning, (for your convenience,) Thanks to Ron.  It is a thankless task standing there all morning in the cold, so let’s make it worth his while, by supporting him, then he might just be there next year as well.  He is a tower of knowledge as well, and if you have queries, go see him, and he will point you in the right direction. OH… have a coffee or a pick me up while you are there.

PREMIER LEAGUE COACH
Congratulations must go to Keith Braithwaite our Premier League Coach who has been appointed the Coach of the Lotto Mainland Selection Team to play the Wellington Phoenix on July 13th in  Christchurch .  Put this date in your dairies and get along and support hopefully some of our lads and Keith.

Enjoy the rest of the season.

2008 team photos info

Thank you all for your help in arranging times for photos on the Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th June. A timetable is attached.

As previously they are being taken upstairs at Tullet Park, the times are closer together than last year, and a one or two double ups, so please arrange to meet 10-15 minutes early to get changed and ready.

 PAYMENT and DELIVERY

Photos are $13 each, if someone can be nominated to collect money prior to photo night this would be a big help, payments can be made, passed on to us on the night.

Photos will be delivered to the club toward the end of June.

 BEFORE THE NIGHT

Remind parents to bring correct socks and clean boots(not to be worn on lino upstairs), and to be early to get into kit, and money if not already collected.

Bring Clean Playing Strip, Coach and Manager please wear dark trousers(matching if possible), and wear club jackets if you have them.

Photos should take about 5-10 minutes per team, and we will need someone to stay behind for a few minutes to provide names

(we will show you the photo computer screen).

I look forward to seeing you all there on the night.  Kind RegardsGlyn Davies
