Mini League Up-date

Well so far so good!! thats the feed back that we have received this year.
I can say for the first time in four years that I am enjoying Mini League, as a
coach and as a parent. I'd like to thank Kate on the committee for her promise
to mini league this year, i.e to provide everything that we needed for the kids. Well what can I say? "Panthers RULE" even thou we are second to last on the
table. Just be careful you other Mini leaguers its a long season and we are improving.
In the five weeks that we have been playing, it has been noticed the standard of play has
improved. I hope that you kids are enjoying the the new concept, and the oranges. It seems
to be a great atmosphere on Saturday mornings, with the amount of noise coming from the
        sideline, the more the better.
I have to say the twelve teams look smart in ther new jerseys, so please look after them for
next year. The coaches (parents) thanks for making everything run so smoothly, its great
having a bit of banter between teams, remembering its all in good fun for the kids.

Speaking of next year, I would like to get some parents organized to help with Mini League
i.e. with registration, teams, etc. If you can help please contact Mike Regan ph 03 3237092
As next year I will be moving on to the 7th grade. It would be great to keep Mini league moving
forward for next year. It will be no problem for me to help the new  mini league committee, and
        its a lot of fun.
.
        Regards Mike Regan

7th Grade Orcas  (Mid season report)

Hi ho from the coach of the 7th grade 'Mighty Orca's'
Our team had an interesting start with some of our guys playing some football before and some who haven't. One thing is for sure, they are full of energy and love to kick the ball around.
Our troop have been focusing on good skill work, with emphasis on passing and dribbling skills. This appears to be paying off, as the team looks more confident and scoring plenty of goals.
Onwards and upwards from here with a very long season, lets hope the coach doesn't loose anymore hair.
 Coach Ashley

7th Grade Dolphins (Mid season report)

It has been a really enjoyable season so far. We have a great team of kids - 4 boys & 4 girls - most of whom had not played before.
You can really see the improvement from the first few games and this shows in the fact we have won our last 3 games.
The most pleasing part is the spirit of the team and parents. No matter what the result everyone comes off with a smile and having enjoyed the game.
Great to see such enthusiasm  - keep it up.

Coach Stuart White

7th Grade Stingrays (Mid season report)

So far the 2007 season is going really well for the Stingrays. The boys have benefitted from another year in 7th grade and with our 3 new players are all playing great soccer each week. They have all shown excellent skills and with a never say die attitude, the results have been very pleasing. We have scored lots of goals, been very tight on defense and have all worked hard as a team.Well done guys! Thanks to the parents for their ongoing support, this will be tested in the upcoming winter months!

 Coach Geoff Hyde

7th Grade Sharks (Mid season report)

The boys are having a great season riding on a winning wave, they haven't lost a game yet and have only had three goals scored against them. It is satisfying to watch them playing together so well and their team work is paying off with scoring results! They are a lively, happy group always giving their best.
Wel done, Byron, Celyn, Corey, Daniel, Espen and Jacob - we are so proud of you all keep it up!

Your coaches Eric & Gary.

8th Grade - Leopards  (Mid season report)

The 8th grade Leopards have all had a great first half of the season.  Everybody is enthusiastic and supportive of their team mates.  Amelia has put her body on the line for the team and even after her nose bleeding considerably she went back on the field.  The team is working really well together, passing the ball, trying really hard to regain the ball off the opposition and there have been lots of attempts at the goal (the goal posts just need to be a wee bit wider!!!!!!).  The effort on the field was awesome last Saturday – amazing what a chocolate bar for each goal can do.   Thankyou to all the parents for the support at practices and games.  Keep up the great work Leopards.

 Coach – Ian Macpherson

8th Grade The Lions (Mid season report)

The mighty Lions are having a fun season so far with two new players joining our team. Astin and James have both fitted in very well. All our boys are scoring goals and we have had some great teamwork both in attack and defence.

 Rose

8th Grade Panthers   (Mid season report)

Well 9 games down for the 8th grade Panthers and 9 wins.

This season we are on fire and have been scoring goals from everywhere with two big wins of 16 Nil!!! Goals have been evenly distributed

throughout the team although Reuben Logan, James Johnstone and Nic Ros s have been the major contributors on attack. Unlike last season the team has really embraced the concept of passing and sharing possession of the football - we really play as a Team now!

So far the stiffest competition has come from our fellow Nomads teams - Go Nomads!!

We look forward to more success this season and a continuation of the fine frosty weather

Go the Mighty Panthers!!! !

Coach Dale

8th Grade Tigers   (Mid season report)

The Tigers have had a great first half of the season developing ball
skills and team play and winning most of their games so far. The
players, coaches  and parents have been working hard together to get
these pleasing results and we are looking forward to more great football!
Coach Barry Loe

8th Grade Cats (Mid season report)

8th Grade Pumas (Mid season report)

The Pumas 8th grade team has battled along and is having huge amounts of fun indeed. In the weekend James Biggs scored the first goal of the season for the team and onlookers may have thought the game was over by the shouts from team and parents.
From here the pumas will grow with their new jackets and caps supplied by PACE construction and fun will be the main focus. Thanks to all loyal supporters, keep it up especially as the snow and rain approach!

Cheers Brendan and Andy

9th

9th Grade Crows  (Mid season report)

9th Crows are having a strong season.  Our only loss was 1-0 in the first match when we had dominated the game right until the end.  Steffan Landery's goal scoring form continues from last season but he has been well assisted by Zac Coughlan and James McNulty with several goals each.

Our defensive play has been very good with all the players getting time at the back and in goal.  The defence play really has been making the difference with Ashtyn Pike, Olivia Breeze and Mitchell Rosevear making good contributions. Joshua Landery started the season as goalkeeper and shows lots of promise.  New team members Peter Norris and Jessica Stewart are playing very well and showing improved skills every week.   We have been one player down since the third round with Hamish Wallace out with a broken collar bone but he will be back soon which will strengthen the mid field.

10th Grade Bears

Two teams from 9th grade came together this year to form the Bears. The season has been very up and down to date with the guys winning one week and then losing the next.Goals are being shared around with no one person dominating the games. The team is still coming to grips  With positional play and the off side rule.

Coach Rikki Koster

10th grade Cheetahs (Mid season report)

These boys are showing a very positive attitude with dedication to
both the way they train and play soccer on Saturdays.  Our passing of
the ball and playing as a team has helped us stay undefeated.  As a
coach, for me, this team has far exceeeded any expectations I would
have thought possible in this age group.  Keep it going boys and as we
say -  you are only as good as you train.  A big thank you to parents,
relatives and friends who all play a vital role.

Tony Bennett  (Coach)

10th grade Jaguars  (Mid season report)

10th grade Bobcats (Mid season report)

We started the season with five new players who are still finding their feet having lost three to the Premiers. Our rebuilding of skill continues and we all enjoy the challenge but losing still sucks.

Coach Dave Newton

10th Grade Rhinos  (Mid season report)

The 10th Grade Rhinos are enjoying a steady improvement in skills and performance. Having lost 3 out of the first four games, we went on to win 3 of the next four. This reflects better passing between players, and generally improving team work and skills. We have a great bunch of soccer Mums and Dads and family supporting us every Saturday, and the team have treated them to some beautiful soccer moments, and even moments of sheer brilliance, which makes those less than brilliant moments much easier to laugh about. A great team spirit is developing as we try hard to encourage and motivate each other, and just have fun playing the Beautiful Game.
Enjoying every minute of it.

11A Grade Section 1. Team playing well and have been unlucky with the bounce of the ball so far this season. Currently 7th in the 12 team competition. Won 2 Lost 2. Team steadily improving and enjoying a tough section with many evenly matches teams. The boys are playing with good spirit and have shown to be good representatives of the Nomads Club. They are having fun and showing good sportsmanship.

12B (Mid season report)

The self named 12th B Raptors finished a creditable second in the first round. Unbeaten throughout the round we fell at the finial hurdle to a formidable Western side. This result saw us advance into section 2 where no doubt we will have to step up. The Raptors though are eagerly facing the challenge. The second rounds first game reflected the character that has steadily built in this team as the season has advanced, holding Western to a narrow defeat.
Thanks to all supporters who have witnessed many stand out performances including consecutive hat tricks from Matthew Patterson. The Raptors are lucky to have amongst us some very talented footballers but all would agree that it has been the teams ability to gel together as a single unit that has provided players and spectators alike some very memorable performances.

Go the mighty Raptors !Cheers, Coach Harley

12C (Mid season report)

After a mixed start Nomads 12C began to start putting together some good passing runs and show some skill on the ball. Our first games win may have been down to a loan player from Nomads 12A as we were short of numbers. However a win in our second game with the same score line showed the effort put in by the team. Jedd Coughlan has been emerging as our hot goals scorer with nimble footwork and precision slotting past the keeper each time. Unfortunately we were unable to maintain our winning streak and lost our next two games before returning to our winning ways. In fairness to our defence they are totally new to each other and whilst have knitted together well, will need a little more time to understand each others style of play and abilities. Special notice goes to our fearless duo Cassidy Andrews and Eshah Wilkes who with Jono Palsey, Hayden Moffat and Alexander Kilday form the hub our defence. Of course we mustn’t forget Stephanie Donaldson who returned to our team late due to injury and missed the start of season. Our heaviest defeat (1 – 7 against Parklands) was to a team that had been struggling in the higher echelons and had been moved down from section 2 to section 6. Our mid field players are starting to shape up now. There are a few players, who with improved fitness could make more of a difference and stop the gaping hole opening up in midfield (not mentioning any names here), however, we do need something to focus on in training?  That said we finished the first round with a win, second to last game, followed by a draw in our last game. We finished fourth in section 6 and were promoted along with the top three teams to section 5.

Our players will have to steele themselves for a tougher second round as now we’re in section 5 we’re likely to b playing the bottom half of the previous section four teams. That means work output and effort increases to 105%... I have every faith they can rise to the challenge... GO NOMADS 12C!

13B  (Mid season report)

Hello football fans,
13th grade 'B' have seen many changes to last years team with the loss of our top goal scorer and our top goal-keeper to other pursuits and couple of stalwarts going up to the 'A' team along with Geoff Williams. So I have been handed the reigns and a few 'new' players and kicked off to what has been a good but sometimes frustrating season. so far we are 5 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses, the draw was a game we should have won but for some basic defensive errors on our part, the losses coming from a first half in one game and a second half in the other of lethargic mid-field play and silly mistakes in defence. Our biggest loss at the hands of STAC also involved a bad strategic decision by myself  which I have learnt from, but, unfortunately at the team's expense. However, we have bounced back each time to some rather good victories, our latest being a 13-1 win over Halswell C, in which I was most impressed with the passing and communication between the midfield and forwards, 6 players were able to make the score sheet, some of them more than once. With solid goalkeeping and defence we made it look a very one-sided game and I'm sure I still haven't seen best game from them yet!!!!
Next week we face a slightly tougher opponent in St Albans, but each week our team rises to the challenge and I'm sure this one will be no different.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for their continued support, after all most of the guys in the team always seem to put in big performances when your there! So please come along as often as you can.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and see you soon, Cliff Williams (coach).    Go Nomads 'B'!!!!!!!!!

16th Grade girls(Mid season report)

The 16th grade girl’s team has had a challenging start to the season. Mainland Football decided that this year they would take a strict view of who could play in age related grades. That meant with about 6 girls turning 15 this year we were forced to play at the higher 16th grade. This grade consists of girls up to age 18. Our players ranged in age from 12 to 16. The reality was that we struggled against teams that were bigger, more aggressive, older and more skilful. It quickly became apparent that our team along with two other teams, that we had managed a win and a draw against, were out of our depth. Sanity has prevailed and now these 3 teams included Nomads will be playing in an expanded 14th grade. The girls and the parents are looking forward to a much more competitive and enjoyable second half to the season. Hopefully the 9.15am kickoffs won’t be as cold as our first game at this level.

10th Grade Premier  Report Nomads (Mid season report)

11th Grade Premier Grade – Nomads  (Mid season report)

13th Grade Premier Grade – Norwesters  (Mid season report)

The Norwesters Junior Premier 13th Grade team has played 9 games to date, winning 7 of these with 1 loss and 1 draw. The result of this effort is that we currently lead the table by 1 point from Avon who we beat 1-0 last Saturday. 14 goals have been scored by us in these games and we have conceded only 4, all of these being conceded away from home so that we have managed to keep clean sheets in all our home games.
The team has progressed well to date and are now playing some very attractive passing football, a credit to the work put in by all the boys and also the coaches - Danny Halligan and John Quealy.
Team spirit has also been good despite a steady stream of injuries, culminating in Hamish Murphy breaking his arm during the warm-up before the Avon game. We all wish him a speedy recovery.
The team has also received some great support from parents both home and away, so many thanks for those who turn out regularly on the sidelines and especially to those who have tended the wounded during the campaign so far.

In summary, so far so good and we look forward to the second half of the season.

Regards - Andy Smith (Manager)
