Mini League Up-date
7th Grade Orcas (Mid season report)
7th Grade Dolphins (Mid season report)
7th Grade Stingrays (Mid season report)
7th Grade Sharks (Mid season report)
Mini League was a great foundation for these boys who are now showing some excellent skills for their age.
They are lively bunch of boys who are extremely focused come game time and really play as a team. These boys are a pleasure to coach,
and thanks goes out to all the parents for their support.
7th Grade Seals (Mid season report)
8th Grade - Leopards (Mid season report)
The Leopards started off the season with a bang winning the
first 3 games by a reasonable margin. Since then, although playing well
together, we've had a mix of 1 further win & 6 losses :(. However, despite
the initial disappointment from a loss, the team always bounces back &
approaches the next game with renewed enthusiasm. The key thing is they are
improving each time, having fun & enjoying themselves.
I feel privileged to be coaching such a great bunch of kids - Mikaela, Brittany,
Espen, Cameron W, Alex, Corey, Cameron M & Joshua. It's fantastic to see how
far the players have developed since the first game - they're really starting to
gel & play as a team rather than individually. Their dribbling & passing
skills are improving & at practice we're currently focusing on tackling
& spreading out to receive the pass.
A huge thanks to the parents for the fantastic support they give the team (and
me) at each practice night & at the weekend games - it wouldn't be the same
without you all there cheering the team on!
Looking forward to the next half of the season!

8th Grade The Lions (Mid season report)
8th Grade
Panthers
The
Tigers have made a good start to the season with 5 wins, 3 losses and a draw.
This
has been especially satisfying, as we started this season with some players that
were completely new to football.
We
recently had a guest coach come to practice, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed
and gained a lot of skills from, which I am endeavouring to enhance as coach
(given that I am not a Football player, they will probably teach me!)
Each
player is growing in confidence and all are showing promise in a particular
position. We are starting to develop the teamwork with some great passing
leading to some great team goals.
It
takes a great supportive group of parents (and grandparents) to make a team
really work, and the Tigers are fortunate in this regard
8th Grade Cats (Mid season report)
The 8th Grade Catsstartedoff the season with some rather disappointing results but have improved with every game and are now playing some very good football and going for five wins in a row.Practices have been going well and this Thursday All White Legend Alan Stroud is coaching the boys, so a good mid-season lift for the team.
8th Grade Pumas (Mid season report)
9th Grade Crows (Mid season report)
The team is working well together playing some very good football, but this has not always been reflected in the game scores so far. We are expecting better results for the rest of the season.
9th Grade Eagles (Mid season report)
The
Nomads 9th Grade Eagles are having yet another strong season –all
wins and by comfortable margins
Eric
and I can’t speak highly enough of all the team – everyone is giving it 100%
both at practice and on game day
So,
the future looks bright for the rest of the season and a number of the boys are
keen to push into the 10th Grade “A” team for next year
9th Grade
Hawks
9th Grade
Falcons
9th grade Falcons have had a mixed bag of results so far this season. With different levels of commitment within the team, we are still to see the best in this side.
All on track to ramp up and finish the season with a plethora of goals.

9th grade Magpies. (Mid season report)
We have a mix of new players and those who know each other and all are working well together in taking on new roles in positional play and teamwork.
It has been very satisfying to see the players' confidence and skills grow individually and as a team, which no doubt is helped by a great supportive group of parents.
10th Grade
Bears
10th grade Cheetahs (Mid season report)
10th grade Jaguars (Mid season report)
The game was not memorable so much for the result but instead for the skill level and accuracy demonstrated on the day.
That game was something of a benchmark for the way the boys can play and was really good to watch.
Unfortunately I have not got to know some of them as well as I'd like because I tend to focus in on the game to the detriment of all else ( I suspect this is a common trait of all coaches)

10th Grade Rhinos
Sarah is
new to football but plays with enthusiasm and is really eager to learn.
In Kenneth we have uncovered a huge kick when in goal or taking corners.
Jacob has been a great transfer from another club.
He dribbles well and is now our leading goal scorer.
Joshua
Landery has again been our main rock in goal and saved many for us this season.
Unlike past years, his brother Steffan Landery took a while to find the
back of the net but now is only two goals behind Jacob.
Mitchell Rosevear has been improving his tackling and already has a goal
this season.
Olivia
Breeze and Peter Norris continue to be very good for us on defense and have been
pushing forward this year and not been lucky enough to score from several shots
on goal. Hamish Wallace plays every
game with 100% effort and never stops running, tackling and creating
opportunities.
The
players and myself have really appreciated the great support we have had from
the parents at each game and practises. It
always make games so much more fun with Mum or Dad watching on.

I would have to say that having a Raid Daddiza as
Coach has motivated the team no end.
In the first round we were rising up the table our first game against Shirley
Phoenix in Round 1 was 7 nil to them.
When we met them again they only won by 3 to 2. We have strikers that are
hungry to score goals and defenders that stop all.
Our goalie is totally committed to defending the
realm.
In round 2 we are now middle of the table. A thoroughly enjoyable season and a
pleasure to watch this team develop.

After going down in the seasons openers the 13b’s rebounded, amazingly going unbeaten for the next 8 games. Matthew Patterson once again revealing in the many opportunities provided from the now formidable mid field slotting a half season tally of 22 goals! The level of skill and team work displayed so far this year has been quite incredible…just like on TV.
Stand out performances each and every week from Jack Van Workum in what must be his career best season has led the way to a goal difference the defensive team can be very proud of. However it has been the work rate and skill of the midfield that has seen the Raptors claw their way to near top of a 20 team ladder. Reilly Clemmence’s deft crosses, corner kicks and touch line surges provided heaps of quality ball for a very goal hungry pack.
Most notably it has been the tireless mid field work of Ryan O’Rourke, Thomas Le Heux and Bridie Sanders that has under pinned this seasons awesome team performances. The level of skill on show this year particularly in space passing, calling, one two touches and through balls is testament to the efforts put in a training which have always been fully attended. The Raptors are getting out what there putting in.

Hi followers of the " beautiful game ",
this seasons team of 15 players
(hayden,tim,callum,hamish,jordan,connor,alex,tom,ryan,jared,alex,jeremy,daniel,william,eddie
) have had an easy first set of game which has
given the coaches a chance to try different playing strategies (19 teams
from rangiora in the north >>>> ashburton in the south),now we
are to be split with top 10 play each other.
At training under lights these young men take a bit to get going (being
winter sport brrrrr ),fitness & ball skills are what we work
on to play as a "team",most have been with the club since mini league, the
next set of games will be the test for all ,thanks to the
side line supporters .
Wining or losing a game is not that important its how the game was played a
win is a bonus.
"NOMADS BEST IN THE WEST"
Cheers Colin & Andrew

16th Grade girls(Mid season report)
| 2 hat-tricks and a bucketful of other goals by our perennial goalscorer Phil. He currently has well over half of the team's 22 goals to date. | |
| A 3-2 victory over Rolleston in a howling wind on a pitch with grass up to our knees. No through balls along the ground that day...they were lucky to roll 5 yards in front of you. | |
| An unlucky 2-1 loss to Burnside at their place. 1-0 up and playing well at halftime, when we turned into the wind we actually forgot how to play football. Summed up beautifully 15 minutes from time by a brilliant header by defender Tony into the onion bag. Shame it was the opposition's onion bag, and gave them the 2-1 lead finished with. | |
| A 5-1 spanking of Cashmere. Should have been more, but as is our habit, our standard dropped to that of our opposition. A comfortable win though. | |
| A resounding 4-1 win at Ferrymead. Probably our best performance of the season really, some quality goals and plenty of other chances that had their boys as frustrated as a one-armed man hanging off a cliff with itchy...well anyway, back to the story. | |
| 1-1 draw with Banks Peninsula at home. The reason this was a highlight is that we played like rubbish all game, but kept them out for most of it and then got a penalty in the last couple of mins to snatch a draw. The teams that can get a point when they play badly is the team that can win the title. Well so I said after the game... | |
| A brilliant 3-2 victory over Kaiapoi at Kendall park in the snow. Those of you who played that day will know it was raining in the first half, and snowed like Alaska on a bad day in the 2nd half. We were 1-1 at halftime but playing well, and ignoring calls that we should call the game off. Well I was anyway, and some of them were coming from my own team! 202 after 15 mins in the 2nd half, and as the green grass started to disappear under what ended up being about 3 inches of snow (well that's how much I had to clean off my car after the game), the calls to stop the game grew louder. But the captain stood firm "nah, sod you, we need to win this game to stay in the title race". Sure enough, a goal with 15 minutes to go saw us win 3-2, and while it took most of Sunday before we warmed up, and more than a few collective sick days the following week, it was worth it as we now sat in clear 2nd place on the table. |
